Big Sur, aka 'the Big Sur Coast' is one of my favorite places on earth. For you non-Californians, it is the stretch of Pacific Coast from the Monterey Peninsula south to just north of San Simeon (William Randolph Hearst's mansion). Henry Miller lived in Big Sur as did a great many other writers. It is a magic place with a narrow, twisty road which, mostly, discourages RV owners from traveling down it hogging the road.

As often as I've been there, driven along the coast, hiked into the Ventana Wilderness inland from it, I've never been underwater along it. This is what it looks like:
